Words that take us beyond words

by markreeves on June 28, 2011

This We Have Now (Coleman Barks and David Darling) from Integral Life on Vimeo.

This beautiful performance by Coleman Barks and David Darling at the Integral Institute of the Rumi poem ‘This We Have Now’ expresses the very essence of Turning Point and the awareness of the deeper mystery, which is the backdrop to all the coming and going of emotion, thought, action, drama in our life. That is the nature of ‘witness consciousness’ and the connection to our true nature. Rumi had a way of giving us a direct taste of that truth which is beyond all words.  Enjoy!

Waking up from the dream of separateness

by markreeves on February 22, 2011

THE ABSURD NOTION OF ONE from Nic Askew on Vimeo.

If there is one single theme behind all of our courses it’s the understanding of the illusion of the separate self. All of our survival and struggle is based on this. The moments of breakthrough that people experience on the courses are where they let go of this perception and see that they are part of a much greater whole.

This brilliant video made by Nic Askew features Timothy Freke speaking about this in such a clear and simple way. ‘Waking up from the dream of separateness’ is the phrase he uses right at the end. He reminds us that the true nature of our existence is one of mystery. Yet we cling onto the “absurd notion that we have a clue what’s going on”. Timothy gives a profound description of consciousness as being the dreamer in the waking dream. This is the nature of ‘witnessing’; who we really are is the awareness in which our life takes place. The true nature of this is non-separation where you want other people to be happy as much as you want yourself to be happy and this is where he talks about there just being love.

This video is poetic, profound and beautiful in its simplicity.

Vulnerability

February 17, 2011

This is an amazing talk by Brene Brown on her studies into the nature of vulnerability. What is presented here through Brene’s research and through her own personal journey that this took her on goes right to the heart of the human condition.  I think it is remarkable that this points to the conclusion that [...]

A Walk In The Park

December 30, 2010

I took a walk in Bushey Park And of a sudden Light supplanted dark I saw the panorama The sun-bathed fields and trees And realised ‘I’m not attached to these’. I looked at the fields and trees within And witnessed the landscape of me And realised it is not who I am. I heard Ken [...]
